New Release: The Penthouse Prince by Virginia Nelson

PenthousePrince

Virginia Nelson is my guest today. She has a hot new book out and is anxious to share it with you. But first, a quick interview with Virginia…

What do you do to reward yourself when you finish a new manuscript?

Usually, I take a shower! The last rush of a book, for me, usually eats my world. I tend to forget things like eating, sleeping, showering…because by that point, I can’t think of anything beyond the characters until I finish. So most of the time, I surface from the end of a book like Rip Van Winkle waking from his long sleep—shower, food, sleep and then I check the DVR to see what I missed while I was in another world.

What draws you to write paranormal romance?

I write a lot of paranormal romance because I honestly like the monsters. All my romance involves exploring characters searching for a real connection, for someone who really gets them, but with paranormal romance, there is the added fun of a magical world and magical rules. With that? Magical villains. My most recent paranormal, Odd Wolf, which released in Under a Wolf Moon on January 31st, allowed me to blend old Welsh and Navajo mythology about skinwalkers to come up with a truly fascinating monster…who has friends we’ll meet later in that series. Odd Wolf was the third book in my Odd Series, and there will be at least one, possibly two more books in that series releasing in 2015.

What do you like best about your Jeanie in The Penthouse Prince?

Jeanie Long is a very strong and determined woman who got dealt a lot of hard blows by life, but she came out of it all with a really strict set of values I really respected while I wrote her. Her mom was an alcoholic, a cheater, and raising her little sister fell to Jeanie…so although she’s always worked hard and values money—especially since she’s had to work so hard for it—she’s not impressed by it. Her father taught her that family came first, a lesson she learned so well that her adult choices are framed by that rule. Considering how blockheaded her hero is, I really liked all of that about Jeanie.

Tell us more about The Penthouse Prince?

The Penthouse Prince is a contemporary released by Entangled in their Indulgence line. Single mom Jeanie Long was trying to save her butt at work by reporting her manager to the company owner. Instead, she finds herself greeted warmly by gorgeous company CEO Camden James…and introduced to his father as his fiancée. Now she’s been hired—complete with a hefty pay raise—to be the fake fiancée of the infamous “Penthouse Prince.”

Camden doesn’t believe in love. He believes in mutually beneficial business arrangements. With his real fiancée off cheating on him, Camden needs someone to help him prove to his father that he’s definitely ready to marry. Yet Jeanie’s combination of beauty and bluntness act like an aphrodisiac, and their “for the press” kisses look incredibly real. So real that Jeanie and Camden are either really convincing actors…or they’ve fallen for their own charade.

What’s next for you?

This is shaping up to be a very busy year for me! As I mentioned, I was part of the Under a Wolf Moon anthology that released on the 31st of January and I am so very proud of that project. The Penthouse Prince released on February 9th  from Entangled Publishing. In March, I have a Renn Faire second chance releasing with Fated Desires called Back in Time on the 17th and, on the 18th, the second book in my Bond of Three series, Calling Caralisa will be releasing with Ellora’s Cave. I have three releases in April. The first is on the 17th in the Black Hills Wolves series with Decadent Publishing called Wolf on a Leash. Then Riding Ripley, Bond of Three #3 with EC. I also have a book releasing in the Tempting Signs Series with Fated Desires, Forever Devoted—I got the Taurus sign. In May, readers can look for the final installment of the Bond of Three series, Fighting for Fiona.

VNelsonAuthorheadshotAbout the Author

Virginia Nelson believed them when they said, “Write what you know.” Small town girl writing small town romance, her characters are as full of flaws, misunderstandings, and flat out mistakes as Virginia herself. When she’s is not writing or plotting to take over the world, she likes to hang out with the greatest kids in history, play in the mud, drive far too fast, and scream at inanimate objects. Virginia likes knights in rusted and dinged up armor, heroes that snarl instead of croon, and heroines who can’t remember to say the right thing even with an author writing their dialogue. Her books are full of snark, sex, and random acts of ineptitude—not always in that order.
