Now a brief interview with Debbie:

Hello Dena, I am so excited to be here with you today and share a little bit about the 2nd Edition of Shadow of the Witte Wieven!

Tell us about your journey to publication.

As with most authors, imaginative stories began in my youth. In the empty lot next to our home, a mound of dirt served as a mountain filled with fairies, unicorns, dragons and bold, handsome knights. That tiny hill also served as a castle where I played the princess awaiting her prince. Though childhood eventually ended, the stories never did. Every now and again I would share some of my stories with my husband and he finally convinced me they were good enough to write down and perhaps share them with the world.

I wrote Spirit of the Revolution first, and while it made the rounds to various publishers, I completed Spirit of the Rebellion. During that time I received a plethora of rejection letters. Most of them were the short form letter that said nothing but “no thanks.” However, every now and again I received a personal letter that praised and encouraged. Though none of them gave advice, those letters kept me going. Finally, after almost two years, I received a personal letter from my first editor at The Wild Rose Press in regards to Spirit of the Rebellion. She loved the story but… (oh no, another but…). However, this letter was different. She said if I would make some suggested changes, she would take another look. I happily made those changes, resubmitted the manuscript and shortly thereafter, received my first contract. That momentous occasion happened on May 17, 2011. Since that wondrous life-changing day, I have published all the rest of my completed books.

What draws you to write paranormal romance?

I love creating stories where an impossible love becomes quite possible after all.

What was the inspiration for Shadow of the Witte Wieven?

I happened across an amazing painting of a lightning storm over the ocean. My imagination took flight and I thought what if such a storm took place in the Bermuda Triangle and brought together a handsome 17th century captain and a very lovely DEA agent, with an urgent mission to save lives?

What do you like most about your hero in Shadow of the Witte Wieven, Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness?

I love Wolf’s confidence in his own strengths and abilities as well as the fact that when it comes to what he wants, he will find a way to conquer any obstacle in his path.

What’s next for you?

My sixth novel, Court of the Hawk, is another fantasy- paranormal romance dealing with a hidden kingdom, a modern day epigraphist and the mysterious Lord of a castle in Wales that she agrees to assist. The book, which will be published by The Wild Rose Press, is currently in the galley phase of its production. A release date should be announced soon.

Cover_ShadowoftheWitteWievenDespite a contract on her head, lone Drug Enforcement Agent, Aliyana Montijo must ferret out a mole and stop the assassination of top DEA officials, as so ordered by the Colombian drug lord she seeks to take down. The task is a daunting one, for there is no one she can trust. No one that is, until she encounters a most unlikely ally.

Former seventeenth century captain of the Dutch West Indies Company, Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness, now from a parallel dimension, encounters the beautiful agent during an unearthly storm in the Bermuda triangle. Drawn to the Spanish beauty he rescues, he pledges his assistance, despite her reluctance to accept either his help or his heart.

Can Wolf bridge both space and time to claim the woman he loves?

“Are you going to answer the question, or are you not?” he quipped, ignoring her comment altogether.

“Ooh! Tu’ eres el hombre más exasperante que he tenido la desgracia de conocer!” she huffed as she folded her arms and slammed them hard against her chest.

“Sorry?” His eyes danced with sudden merriment, while his lips twitched in amusement. “I didn’t quite catch all that!”

In response to his mirth, she once again clenched her teeth. She could feel her cheeks flame as she jerked a pointed a finger toward his chest. “I said, you are the most exasperating man I’ve ever had the misfortune—”

The moment she drove her finger forward, her words abruptly ended and so did his mirth. Aliyana touched the tip of her tongue to her lips as she stared at what she could see of her finger. She slowly withdrew it from inside his chest, gazed at the digit, repeated her actions once more, and then gazed into his sky-blue eyes.

“Aliyana,” Wolf whispered. “Don’t be afraid of me. This isn’t what you think.”

She struggled to make sense of this new quandary. Her bewildered gaze shifted to his arms that still held her fast, traveled their length, and then rose to his face. Her lovely eyes, filled with such delightful indignation a moment ago, now held a trace of apprehension.

“Who are you?” she asked in a voice just audible to his ears. “Better yet, what are you?”
