What is the working title of your next book?
Where did the idea come from for the book?
It started with a call for submissions for erotic encounters at the office. I wrote three short stories that fit their criteria. None were accepted by that publisher however. Later I submitted a couple of them to my previous editor. She really liked one of them but wanted it longer. So… that turned into Risky Business.
What genre does your book fall under?
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I think Emma Stone would make an awesome Mia. As for Jake… since I don’t watch a lot of movies, I had to go searching for a face. I found a Turkish actor/model named Kivanc Tatlitug. I have no idea if this man can act, but he is rather easy on the eyes and has some of the intensity as well as hints at humor that Jake has.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your books?
Boy and girl FINALLY give into their attraction for each other at the annual office party after she gets into a spot of trouble.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
It’s contracted with Ellora’s Cave. Just got my release date earlier this week – it’s scheduled for February 7th (2013). YAY!
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Start to finish? Um, that depends on when you start the clock. The short story version probably only took a few weeks. It was dormant for about a year before my last editor read it and asked for a longer version. It probably took me three or four months to write what became the full version of Risky Business.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Huh… I don’t know – I’ve never compared my books to any other works. When I read, I read to escape.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
My muse. I am frequently inspired to be a little naughty, to think out of the box and sometimes to push the envelope. Some variation of “What If…” seems to be my muse’s favorite line.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
It’s a fun, sexy story. I try to add a little humor into all of my stories. Mia has a pack of girlfriends that show up in Risky Business – one of these days I may drag one or two of these girls to the front of the stage and demand to know what their stories are.
